Keep county and city highway requirements separate
The county guide covers transport infrastructure for new development and includes off site works and Section 278 guidance. Nottingham City’s highway support page separately signposts Transport Assessment and development advice. Check the relevant authority’s current documents before setting the scope.
For urban sites, show how deliveries, waste collection and access to parking interact with the pedestrian frontage. For edge of settlement proposals, establish the route to existing services and whether an improvement is needed beyond the site boundary.
Where development is phased, identify what transport infrastructure and travel measures will be available at each occupation stage. A final masterplan should not conceal an interim arrangement that fails to work.
What to establish before you commission

- Agree off site works and the information needed for their technical approval.
- Align survey assumptions and mitigation with the proposed occupation phases.
