Use the district’s transport evidence and design requirements
Sheffield publishes separate information sheets for Transport Assessments and Travel Plans, car and cycle parking, highway development and adoption. Its developer guidance also identifies construction and traffic signal specifications. Use the documents relevant to the scheme stage, rather than treating a planning report as a complete technical approval package.
For sites elsewhere in South Yorkshire, use the relevant district’s requirements. A residential design reference shared across an area does not establish identical parking standards or assessment scopes in each authority.
On a redevelopment, establish what movements the existing lawful use can reasonably contribute to the assessment before presenting a net traffic change. On a larger allocation, check the relationship between site access, wider mitigation and the phasing of occupation.
What to establish before you commission
